The International Network & Community of Writers Society (Incwriters) administrates the award for Outstanding Contribution to Literature (Magazines).
On the 8th October at Manchester Central Library, judges for the 2008 award, G.P. Kennedy (Incorporating Writing), Andrew O'Donnell (Poet), Cath Nichols (Poet), Libby Tempest (Manchester Central Libraries), William Park (Incwriters & Poet) and Andrew Oldham (Poet & Writer) judged the final list of 40 magazines. Andrew Oldham says, "Competition this year was high, unlike 2006 the quality of magazines entering the award has risen ten fold. Making the judging process a difficult one. However, we feel that the final 20 represent a cross section of UK publishing".
The final 20 will be announced in 2 stages, 20-11 will be published in December at www.incwriters.co.uk with comments from the judges.
The top 10 will be invited to an award event at Manchester Central Library in March 2008. Where excerpts from the magazines will be read and the final winner will be announced and receive the award for 2008. |
